Synopsis

Set in the international world of Western classical music, the film centers on Lydia Tár, widely considered one of the greatest living composer-conductors and the very first female director of a major German orchestra.

My Review

Cate Blanchett is one of my favorite actresses. I would listen to hear read the phone book. This is a very intelligent, deep, intense movie about working in the Arts, the sexual politics, the breaks that MAKE a career, and so much more. As someone with a classical music background, I thought the Writer did a great job of putting very esoteric music storylines into terms non-musical people could understand. I liked the rich, dark brown color palette used throughout.

How I Viewed It

Digital Streaming. I hooked my laptop into my 55″ flat screen TV via HDMI cable.

See it on the Big Screen

Thank You

Thank you to Mr Focus Features for giving me access to watch this via Digital Streaming so I could make an intelligent and informed opinion when casting my vote for the 29th Annual SAG Awards.

However, a big, sprawling and Audio-driven movie like this REALLY should be seen (and heard) on the Big Screen in a community setting. I wish you had a Screening for me or (at the very least) offered Movie Cash.

Many local branches have a Viewing Party to cheer on the nominees together.

Watch at Home

This year, the Awards show will be livestreamed ONLY on Netflix’s YouTube channel on Sunday, February 26, 2023 at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT. This is signficant. For the past several years, the show was broadcast on TNT and TBS. It has already been announced that next year, the show will stream directly on Netflix itself (not their YouTube channel).
