Synopsis: Based on a true story. A team of African-American women provide NASA with important mathematical data needed to launch the program’s first successful space missions.
My Review: What a fantastic movie. Very positive, good role models, uplifting movie. Everyone/everything is spot on. I wish the other girls had been nominated, in addition to Octavia Spencer. She gives an excellent performance of a real/brilliant woman who led a team of secretaries to help land the rocket on the moon. She took initiative, saw a future need and filled it – not only for her, but for her co-workers. Not a flashy role, but believable and got the job done. I can’t wait to see her on screen again. Taraji P. Henson shows amazing range, that she can play something other than girls from the Hood (which she has already proven she can do so well). I completely believed how smart she was and girly/innocent when wanting to hook up with the new boyfriend. I was blown away by Janelle Monáe. Who knew she could act?!? I know here as the gender-bender singer with wacky hair. And she is also in MOONLIGHT. Unbelievable. Can’t wait to see her acting in more projects.
