How viewed: Redbox DVD rental on my 55″ flat screen.

Synopsis: A divorced father and his ex-con older brother resort to a desperate scheme in order to save their family’s ranch in West Texas.

My Review: I was completely blow away at how good this movie is. I remember it came and went quickly in the movie theatres. Jeff Bridges is almost always excellent. He is practically unrecognizable in this role as a tired/washed up/alcoholic Texas Ranger just a week away from retiring. I grew up in the South and alway leery when filmmakers set their story there. I totally believed all these people. Some great work in the Supporting roles, eg: the old bitchy waitress. I know those kinds. I’ve been a big fan of Ben Foster for a long time. I wish he worked more.

Dear Mr Film 44 and Mr CBS Films: Luckily this movie was released earlier in the year and I was able to watch it thru Redbox DVD rental. I almost never pay to see a nominated movie, but I took a chance because I like so many of the actors involved and Mr Redbox only charged me $1.62. If you don’t provide access, how can you expect me to make an intelligent and informed opinion when casting my vote on the 23rd Annual SAG Awards?
