Visually stunning, but the story was SO lopsided in focusing on the women, there were hardly any men onscreen.

Synopsis

Set more than a decade after the events of the first film, “Avatar: The Way of Water” begins to tell the story of the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri, and their kids), the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure.

My Review of Avatar: The Way of Water

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is visually stunning, but the story was SO lopsided in focusing on the women, there were hardly any men involved. Don’t get me wrong, I love the women. The story did a great job of adjusting the movie to compensating for the death of their lead actor – Chadwick Boseman. It would be incredibly difficult to follow up to such a brilliant movie. I wanted to see more of the neighbor warring Chieftain M’Baku (Winston Duke). I look forward to his next project. The Stunts were incredible. I wish the story would have leaned more into the warring tendencies of the villain race. The Mayans (who they were based on) were incredibly violent, eg: frequent human sacrifices. It did not need to be almost 3 hours long.

How I Viewed It

Digital Streaming. I hooked my laptop into my 55″ flat screen TV via HDMI cable.

See it on the Big Screen

Thank You

Thank you to Mr Marvel Studios and Mr Walt Disney Studios for giving me access to watch this via Digital Streaming so I could make an intelligent and informed opinion when casting my vote for the 29th Annual SAG Awards.

However, a big, sprawling movie like this really should be seen on the Big Screen in a community setting. I wish you had a Screening for me or (at the very least) offered Movie Cash.

Deadline to Vote

Friday, February 24, 2023, noon (PT) is the deadline to vote.

Viewing Party

Many local branches have a Viewing Party to cheer on the nominees together.

Watch at Home

This year, the Awards show will be livestreamed ONLY on Netflix’s YouTube channel on Sunday, February 26, 2023 at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT. This is signficant. For the past several years, the show was broadcast on TNT and TBS. It has already been announced that next year, the show will stream directly on Netflix itself (not their YouTube channel).
