Synopsis: A timeless story of human self-discovery and connection, Moonlight chronicles the life of a young black man from childhood to adulthood as he struggles to find his place in the world while growing up in a rough neighborhood of Miami.
My Review: This is a difficult film to watch on many difficult subject matters. Very good performances by all, but slow and quiet, not flashy. I hear a lot of people saying they don’t get this movie, but from an Actor’s point of view, this is really good stuff. Mahershala Ali is on the up and coming track in Hollywood – as can be seen on his most recent credits. You can see him thinking in most of his scenes. I have liked Naomie Harris since 28 DAYS LATER. She is always open and accessible to all the characters she plays.
Thank you Mr Weinstein Company for giving me access to this movie so I could make an intelligent and informed opinion when casting my vote on the 23rd Annual SAG Awards.
